About JESS
JESS is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 agency for individuals with disabilities, providing services to consumers in the City of St. Louis, St. Louis County and St. Charles County. In 1979 JESS was the first supported employment agency for youth in the State of Missouri known as Project JESS. During its conception, agency representatives from other states came to Missouri to learn and replicate this program that provided job readiness training and job placement with ongoing job retention services for teens with developmental disabilities.  

In 1984, JESS expanded its programming to include adults as the teens became older they wanted to continue services in adulthood. At that time the name Project JESS was changed to JESS (Jobs and Employment Support Services) to reflect service expansion.

JESS provides the following services for youth and adults:
·        Job assessment
·        Job readiness training
·        Job development
·        Job placement
·        Job retention - including on-the-job coaching
·        Supportive Living (who are 18 and older and live in St. Louis city)
·        SWEP (Summer Work Experience Program - youth in St. Louis County)
